When you have a non IE browser set as default, why do some links still open up in IE?

For example, if someone sends me a link via email, sometimes it will open in IE even though Firefox is my default browser. I'm just curious if there is a way around this.

You can double check your File Associations

Open Windows Explorer -%26gt; Tools -%26gt; Folder Options -%26gt; File Types

There is where you can change associations so that items open up in whichever program you choose.
