everytime i open a web page whether in ie or mozilla, a "about.brontok" page shows up. they say that this page is some form of a virus. i tried to quarantine all bugs in my computer but this page still shows up. is it better if i just uninstall ie?
Is it ok to uninstall ie if i alreadly have mozilla?ie
(ie) is part of windows you cant uninstall it
use
Kaspersky internet security suite Anti-Virus 6.0
scan pc in safe mode
lets get that out of ur pc ur some antivirus will miss key keylogger and trojans . frist of all you need to download avg antispyware this is verry good in getting all kinda bad files . then you need to download Adaware
a-squared%26lt; is verry good in picking up traking software files that is on the pc and it will find them . then download antispyware blocker that will find any type of virus . trojans files with antispyware blocker when you run that at the top of the box ur see
C:\ WINDOWS
remove the word windows and just leave in
C:\
then hit scan it will search all of the pc every file for virus or trojans and this will not have any problem with ur antivirus you have i have this my self .
then download spyware doctor that will search the pc for even more spyware adaware . just having 1 or 2 antispyware dont cut any ice at all you neeed what i said to download . when you have them run ur pc in safemode and scan the pc with then 1 at a time . this way from safemode the trojan and keylogger cant hide them self coz there is not internet access on in safe mode all the software i said to download will get the trojans and keylogger
if they say some are in the registry you watch what path there in and get in the registry and right hit on that folder and hit remove dont worry when the pc restart up win xp will creat a new clean folder for you
Is it ok to uninstall ie if i alreadly have mozilla?microsoft internet explorer
No, leave it on there. Many programs require it to render what ever it may have in the program and its integrated into Windows. Just set Firefox as the default browser. Do so by clicking Tools %26gt; Options, under System Defaults check off the "Always check to see..." box and click the Check Now button to make Firefox the default browser.
For me, I advice you to backup your important files first. I don't think that the ie uninstall will do the job. cuz your system will still be vulnerable. I suggest to follow this steps:
-reinstall the windows
-from the control panel (enable the firewall and set the system security to high level)
-connect to the internet and install all the windows updates
-install a third party antivirus - use the windows firewall.
then install mozilla and any other software you have.
actually the windows updates are very important in protecting your system.
any time!
You should try to uninstall IE as it usually gets the viruses, but sometimes this is very hard to do. Maybe the about:brontok page is set as your homepage.
your pc may infected with spywares use anti-spywares to delete them.
